CONTENTMENT KEY

This is a good time of year to paint and do some paintings I have been thinking about for a while. Not too many distractions and lots of time to do the things I like to do. This is a revisit of an earlier painting which I always loved and updated and seen another way. its all about the blue. This is 8"x10" and I am going to have prints made of this.

Another new painting

SOLD "Sunflowers" Painted with the group on Thursday and everyone painted sunflowers. This is 11"x14" with a plain black frame.

Orchids in my trees

Two orchid plants are in bloom at the same time. The purple one has 4 flower stalks and is just amazing. My friend Jo Stevens gave me this plant many years ago for my birthday and it is very happy in the trees.

New paintings

New paintings this week. Colorful sunset sky and single stilt home. I haven't come up with a title yet. Any suggestions? Its a gallery wrap , no frame and about 6"x12".

This was done with painting group last Thursday, had to rework the antherium and I think it works much better, I like the open feeling of this one and the colors. Its framed with a plain black frame and is 11"x14"

Starfish cactus

Otherwise know as stapelia gigantea or carrion flower. I took several rootings from a plant in my neighborhood and they are all blooming right now. This one plant had 4 or 5 buds which are like balloons and then the flower opens to a huge star covered in tiny hairs and a foul odor which attracts flies which in turn pollinate it. They last a day and then whither. Very unusual and strange.

Labor Day at Bahia Honda

Bahia Honda is a state park with the most beautiful beaches near my home. Spent the late afternoon there and remembered just why I live where I do. The water was so warm and crystal clear. It was late enough that most of the tourists were gone and we almost had the beach to ourselves. Came home and took a shower in my outdoor shower and had a wonderful dinner.... short ribs with pilaf and a wonderful salad of romaine, green grapes , blue cheese and a homemade balsamic vinaigrette. Wonderful weekend. Hope you had a great one too. I am throwing caution to the wind and daringly wearing white linen pants today!
