Hurricane names for 2009

With the 2009 hurricane season starting in a couple of days, June 1st, I thought I would post the names for all the hurricanes as this is probably the most interesting thing about hurricane season.

Lets just hope we don't make it to L or even M, I would hate to be cursing sweet Mindy! and watch out Wayne for that V storm! I'm not washing out the tub yet or even buying flour and chocolate to make the brownies but its that time of year to be prepared and not caught unaware, so lets all go buy a bottle of bleach and an extra can of tuna.

Life of Pi

Just finished Life Of Pi .Wonderful book. I know its been out there a while but I just found it at the Salvation Army. I left it out in the rain on my mothers deck so it swelled up a bit but was still readable. It really was an amazing book. Its getting warmer and time to take the screen door down as the AC is on all the time now. New favorite cocktail.... vodka mojitos! Working on a new mailbox and have a couple of new paintings floating around in my head, just have to pin them down and drag them to the easel. Lucy is almost done with school for this year!

Rainy season has begun!

Here are two new mail boxes. I haven't painted any in years but I was cleaning out my studio and found these and decided to paint them up. They are standard sized metal mailboxes and I have them at the gallery for $100.00 each. Look for a standard rural mailbox next week.
Finally the rainy season has come to Florida and any rain shortage has been made up this week. Next comes hurricane season! Tropical update will start June 1st. Anyone want to go to Crosby Stills and Nash in August, St Augustine? Let me know. Have a happy and safe Memorial day!

The deed is done!

Well the deed is done. Some of you know what has been going on in my personal life and some of you don't know me at all and I usually don't get too personal. But my D-I-V-O-R-C-E became final yesterday!

Well I finally finished that painting.

I bit the bullet and just pushed through and finished that painting. Its not that i wasn't painting, I was just avoiding this particular painting. I was a little worried about it and wasn't sure it worked so well but with the frame on and the dock on the left I am pretty happy with it. I just have to name it and price it.

Here is another painting I did this week. "Meteor Shower" its all about the blue.

And here is my newest giclee. "Right on the Water" It is about 16" x28" and can be framed or unframed. $425.00 with a frame and $275.00 with out.

I have always been a huge fan of David Hockney and while reading about him and some of his work I came across a reference to some friends who he painted Don Barchardy and Chris Isherwood and a reference to a movie about them. " Chris and Don: a Love story"

Well it finally appeared in my queue in netflix and watched it tonight. It was a wonderful love story. I am captivated by the depth of their commitment and Don's artistic integrity at the end ,at Chris's death. It was truly a wonderful/ documentary movie.

There were also some fun Key West connections as they were there for the filming of the "Rose Tattoo" as Tennessee Williams guests. If you get a chance to see this film I would recommend it.
